Spirit Ocean Adventure Update - Day 15

July 19, 2010

Click here to track the Spirit of South Carolina

Tonight's update is from student crew member and birthday boy Zeke S:

19 July 2010

Hello to those who are following the voyage of the Spirit, her staff, and crew of students. Today we had a very busy and exciting time in Provincetown, visiting the Provincetown Center for Coastal Studies and climbing the Pilgrim Monument. The Center for Coastal Students is an organization that had disentangled over 90 whales since 1984. They work to preserve marine sanctuaries and habitat. The Pilgrim Monument is a 25-story tower that allows a view of all of Cape Cod. We spent the rest of our time ashore eating ice cream and shopping.

When we got back aboard, Miss Laura made some amazing cupcakes for my birthday.

A small addition from the head educator: Last night the crew wrote a story while participating in anchor watch. Miss Haley started the story and shared the exciting beginning with us all before lights out. Each watch added to it. This evening Miss Haley shared the final product with us. The entire ship's company was featured in the creative story, and ultimately, the birthday boy, Zeke, saved us all from the Flying Dutchman and a life without dancing.
