Spirit Ocean Adventure Update - Day 10

July 14, 2010

Click here to track the Spirit of South Carolina

Tonight's update is from student crew member David M:

14 July 2010

We woke up at 0715 hours with a tasty breakfast which consisted of homemade McMuffins. We wrote in our journals about a piece from "Through Painted Deserts." With excitement, we were informed that we would be able to go swimming at the pool at a local Recreation Center and finally take a freshwater shower!

On our way to the pool, we were delighted to stop by Edible Arrangements, where we had tasty smoothies of our choice. Also, on our way to the pool, we stopped to tour the Moses Myers house. Moses Myers was the first Jewish settler in Norfolk and became one of the first millionaires in the country.

We got to the pool after an almost two mile walk and enjoyed swimming and showering very much. We left the pool and made the trek back to get ready to leave Norfolk. We left our dock and stopped to get fuel. After dinner, we had a birthday party for Jacob complete with cupcakes and a Spirit gift. Now we are on course to leave the Chesapeake and head North.

P.S. Hi Mom and Dad! I love you so much and am having so much fun! Love David (with help from shipmate Katherine)
