After reviewing the weather for the next few days Captain Jason has decided to continue around Cape Hatteras into the Chesapeake Bay for a port stop. He hopes to arrive sometime on Monday, but will see what the weather brings. Currently the Spirit is sailing under a reefed fore in the Gulf Stream making 7 knots.
Below is tonights update from student crew member LeGrand G:
Today was amazing! After watching the sunrise this morning we set our course for Virginia. The crew is coming together as an efficient team and family. We raised our foresail today in the late afternoon; faster than we ever have before!
The lookout then spotted a United States Navy Destroyer! As the sun sets on our ship, I think of how fortunate I am to be on this amazing ship with this incredible crew in this beautiful ocean.
